The Minolta 2X M/A Converter-S enables attaching manual focus Minolta MD or MC Mount Lenses, having focal lengths shorter than 300mm, to Minolta Maxxum or Sony Alpha SLR Cameras, and will allow their use in manual focus mode. At the same time, the 2x M/A Converter doubles effective focal length of the attached manual focus lens. For example, a 35mm lens becomes a 70mm lens and a 70mm-300mm zoom will become a 140mm-600mm super zoom. As with all 2X teleconverters, the effective lens aperture is reduced by two stops and the depth of field is reduced by about one-half. Automatic exposure control is possible using aperture priority stop-down metering. Manual exposure control is also available. The Minolta 2X M/A Converter-S will mount Minolta Manual Focus MD or MC Lenses to ANY Minolta Maxxum film or digital SLR camera or the Sony Alpha digital SLR camera, including the Sony Alpha 100; Maxxum Digital 5D, Digital 7D, 2xi, 3xi,5xi, 7xi, 9xi, SPxi, 300Si, 400Si, 500Si, 600Si, 700Si, 800Si, 3000i, 5000, 5000i, 7000, 7000i, 8000i, 9000, HTsi, HTsi Plus, QTsi, XTsi, Maxxum 3 QD, Maxxum 4, Maxxum 5/5 QD, Maxxum 7, Maxxum 50 / 50 QD, Maxxum 70 / 70 QD, Maxxum 9, RD-175, and more. The converter is designed exclusively for use with MD or MC type Manual Focus lenses with a 300mm focal length or shorter.
